

Our favorite dessert was a warm peach butter cake with a caramelized peach on top, served à la mode. It was topped with melting Gorgonzola compound butter.

This beautiful restaurant serves New American cuisine on the shores of the Great South Bay. Other don’t-miss entrees included two sautéed soft shell crabs in a lemon-caper butter sauce, served atop Israeli couscous dotted with corn, zucchini and red peppers and roast chicken with a brioche, mushroom and prosciutto stuffing. We perused the eclectic menu and the expansive wine and beer list, and headed to The Lake House.

Connors told us that the couple had asked for the rolls and “we couldn’t say no.” She did not say no to us either, fortunately: They came full of big chunks of lobster and were served with herbed fries and a small green salad.
